Cynthia Schaaf, RN LNHA - Facility Administrator

Cindy Schaaf was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois. As a Springfield native, she was brought up through the Springfield educational system attending Cathedral grade school and later attending and graduating from Sacred Heart Academy.

Cindy went on to pursue her education in Nursing by attending St. Louis University in downtown St. Louis, Missouri and Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield. Cindy graduated with her nursing degree in 1975 and began a successful career in her hometown of Springfield.

Upon returning to Springfield, Cindy began her nursing work in the Neuro Unit at St. John’s hospital until 1977 at which time she would begin work with neurological surgeon, Dr. Hayner, as the Physician’s Surgical Assistant. In 1978, Cindy returned to St. John’s Hospital as a charge nurse in the Neuro Unit. After a 7 year break from nursing to raise her two children, Cindy returned to nursing as the Director of Nursing for the Menard County Convalescent Center in Petersburg, Illinois in 1988 where she stayed for several years. During that time Cindy completed her Rehabilitative Restorative Nursing Program. In 1992, Cindy was named Director of Nursing for Villa East in Sherman and was later promoted in 1997 to Administrator after receiving her license as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. (LNHA) Cindy continued her service as administrator of Villa East in Sherman for several years until she was hired by Platinum Healthcare in 2002 to run a new facility in the heart of the medical district to be called Capitol Care Center. Cindy has since been at the helm of the largest skilled nursing facility of its kind, completely building a new staff from the ground up, creating the highest rated skilled nursing facility of its kind, and garnering several accolades and national recognition for the facility.

Cindy has continued her active involvement within her family throughout her career. She served as PTA president of Petersburg Elementary, remained active in the Girl Scouts as her daughter grew up, was a staunch supporter of her son’s sports activities at Sacred Heart-Griffin and continues to be the proud mother of her two lovely children Jacob and Lucy. She has been married to her husband, Terry since 1980. Cindy is also the Co-Owner of Parkside Tree Farm in Petersburg, Illinois.

Cindy Schaaf maintains her certifications as a Registered Nurse and as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Additionally, Cindy maintains a Geriatric Certification for Non-Physicians.

 

Michael Bova, M.D. - Facility Medical Director

Michael Bova was born and raised in Carmi, Illinois. Upon graduating from Carmi Community High School, Michael attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Upon his graduation, Michael entered into Medical School with the SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois in 1982. He would later complete his internship in 1987 with the SIU School of Medicine and later complete his residency in 1989 with SIU School of Medicine as well. Upon graduation, Michael would receive his certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1990 and later would become recertified by that same board in 2001.

Dr. Bova began his career with Central Illinois Medical Associates in the summer of 1989 where he would practice medicine for several years before transitioning to the Doctor’s Hospital Network in 1994. Dr. Bova remained with the network through the St. John’s merger with Doctor’s Hospital which created the Doctor’s/St. John’s Health Care Network. He would remain with the network until June of 2000 when he joined Physicians Group Associates S.C. Dr. Bova would continue practicing medicine with the group until 2003 when he decided to begin his own private practice at his offices on Farragut Drive in Springfield. In November of 2003, Dr. Bova opened his practice to the general public and has since built a flourishing practice on the west end of Springfield. In 2009, Dr. Bova was named Medical Director of Capitol Care Center and has since taken on several patients in need of his expertise.

Dr. Bova is the proud father of 4 boys; Andrew, Ben, Casey, & David and 1 daughter, Paige. Dr. Bova currently resides with his family in Sherman, Illinois. He is affiliated with ASIM and ISIM. His offices can be reached during normal business hours by phone at 217-726-9346.

Dr. Michael Bova maintains his certification as a Doctor of Medicine.

 

Business Office - Connie Fite, Business Manager

This department is responsible for all financial transactions for the facility as well as patient financial matters including insurance, trust funds, Medicaid applications, discretionary spending and more. Our business manager acts as a liaison between our corporate billing department and our residents to explain any financial matter that may arise during their stay with us.

 

Marketing & Public Relations – John Laurenzana, Director

This department is responsible for all of the commercial marketing, media, public relations, press contacts and community interaction for Capitol Care Center. In conjunction with the Admissions department, our MPR department works to enhance new and existing partnerships between our facility and other healthcare providers as well as focus on strengthening the relationships of the facility with various community organizations, groups, and other civic partnerships.
